I specialize in positive parenting strategies that aim to improve parent-child relationships, create effective routines, and promote children’s social and emotional development. Believing in my client’s autonomy and self-knowledge, I work collaboratively capitalizing on my client’s strengths. I use an equity and justice lens to understand my client’s experiences. Common areas of focus include, but are not limited to, tantrums, separation anxiety, fears, defiant behavior, transitions, starting school, moving, loss, and preparing for and adjusting to a new sibling.
My goal is to empower parents/caregivers to be better prepared to cope with everyday challenges and life transitions. My approach uses evidence-based practices from the fields of child development, emotional regulation, and adult learning theory to tailor the coaching process to fit the needs and values of each individual or family. I am particularly interested in how race and culture impact families, relationships, and identity.
I am a certified early childhood educator with a master’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Virginia. I have over eighteen years of teaching and coaching experience, predominantly in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood. My style is supportive, direct, practical, collaborative, and creative.
